Melissa A

Q: When did you first start swimming Synchro? A: My first Synchronized Swimming experience was when I was 33 myself and a girlfriend signed up for an 8-week class with the Aqualillies. Q: What drew you to the sport? A: Initially I thought it would be a fun activity to do with my friend, but after 8 weeks I was hooked and wanted to see if I could improve. I really liked the idea of being a part of a team of women who compete, and learning something new was exciting too. Q: What is your favorite part about swimming with the LA Seastars? A: Definitely watching us all improve throughout the years. Since many of us started as adults we have had the opportunity to grow with one another and it has been pretty cool. Also I love learning a new routine. Q: Besides being a Synchro Star do you have any other hidden talents? A: In my past life I was a part of a Roller Derby Team, so was Erin but totally different teams. (synchro might just be the next step for retired roller derby skaters) Q: If you could pick one song to do a routine to what would it be? A: Phil Collins "In The Air Tonight" remix YES!!!! Q: What is your favorite and least favorite synchro position or figure? A: Least favorite is ballet legs since they are waaaay more visually effective for those long legged gals and they are hard as hell. Favorite is a walkover since I believe in keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. Q: If you had a synchro performance name what would it be? A: Ethel Mermaid Q: What if any is your synchro goal? A: Perform a routine that is best described as strange/bizarre and memorable, I'm open to any suggestions on how to achieve this:) Q: What else do you like to do to have fun? A: Travel as often as I can, set tough goals and achieve them, puppetry, host dinner parties, and I think magic is awesome. Q: What is your profession? A: I work in the Art Department for TV/Films Q: What's the one thing you can't live without? A: There's nothing that I can't live without. I like to believe I will make the most of any scenario, sounds silly but I hope it's true. Q: If you could swim in one body of water anywhere in the world where would it be? A:Nile River
